I didn't know that there was a such thing as a "Friend Code" for Nintendo systems. But, yeah, once I manage to get one, we can share our codes. What do the codes do exactly?

They put that system on with the DS ^^
It adds the player as a friend and then you can play online, share pictures, and other stuff, the same way you do with friends on Steam/PS/Xbox :)

Oh okay. I understand now. I used to have an XBox One... until I traded it in for credit towards a Nintendo Switch.
