It's military is fourth largest in number, and weaker than Gawain's or Edwin's. It consists of the Domus Army and Navy. It is geographically one of the smaller nations of Feila. Natsuki peered down the road as Aquilon mentioned having more company. "Hopefully friendly company." She replied quietly. One of her ears quickly swiveled toward the sound of snapping twigs off the road. she was quickly on her feet as she picked out the sounds of weapons being drawn. Her eyes began to glow blue, and her stance quickly became that of an experienced fighter.

She looked at the group of bandits, and carefully moved to put the wagon between herself and the archers. She wasn't worried much about the ones carrying swords. She had been watching the bandits carefully, wondering why they hadn't attacked yet when Aquilon called his guards to arms. She took a brief glance to see that the guards weren't threatening their attackers, but their boss, and it all snapped into place.

"Oh, now this is sad....and to think I had thought you were cute, and kinda charming." She shook her head. "So much for that assessment." For someone who had just moments before been well on the road to drunkenness, she seemed quite sober now. She was at least happy that the leader of this band had so conveniently identified himself. She looked the coyote square in the eyes as he claimed there would be no harm if they handed over their money, and frowned. She arched an eyebrow, and tilted her head a bit before she asked. "And if I refuse?"

She didn't give him a chance to reply. She moved similar to how Aquilon had described his companion moving, like lightning. Her hands were suddenly enveloped in blue flame as she advanced on Fredric. She jumped up, and struck with a fist angled to drive him down and backwards. As the blow connected, the spellfire detonated, flinging him down onto his back. Natsuki followed through, landing with a fire sheathed hand in his face. "Call them off, or I'll melt your face off." She growled, the blue glow in her eyes now blazing bright. She was exposed now, taking a chance, hoping that striking the head would take the resistance from the rest.

( ooc: I wouldn't say you went too wild, as I intended for natsuki and henrico to get into one hell of a scrap. However, you may have fucked up a bit. ;3 ...That said, do what you wish, with the caveat that you do not kill Fred. I have plans for him.)

Frederic hardly got a word out in response before Natsuki was upon him, striking with a force which he had never felt before. His fur singed, his skin burned, and his entire body was thrown backward with an abnormal force. The coyote let out a loud yelp and fell to the ground, landing upon his own lute, which was immediately smashed under his weight. The fox was immediately atop him, threatening another firey strike.
The coyote simply replied with a wink. Within a moment, no less than three strong men grabbed the woman, one restraining each arm while a third wrapped an arm around her throat. "We have dealt with your kind before, mon cherie! Do not struggle," exclaimed Frederic as he rose to his feet.

Aquila saw his chance. He stepped briskly toward the front of the wagon and grabbed his corssbow. With a quick turn toward the group, he shot from the hip, his bolt finding its target within the shoulder of one of his former guards. The coyote fell to the ground in agony, wrenching at the bolt in an ill-advised attempt to remove it. The raccoon then dropped his crossbow to the ground and presented his spear.

"DEATH FIRST!" he shouted foolishly at the score of bandits against which he stood.

================================

As Henry drew closer to the caravan, he noticed something amiss. The men hired to guard his boss and the cargo seemed to be pointing their weapons at their own employer. What's more, another dozen men seemed to be circling the wagon train with weapons drawn.

The leopard dismounted his mule to approach the scene on foot. Giving a wave, a head tilt, and a flick of his ears, he looked around at the rather large band of ruffians. "What have we caught here?" he asked.
Focusing with widened eyes upon Frederic, the cat commented, "I never did trust you, dog." His glance turned to Aquila. "You never listen to me, friend."
Then to Natsuki. "You seem to be caught up in our misfortune." His eyes seemed to lose focus entirely, as if looking nowhere at all.
"Please leave," he said in a flat voice with clenched fists.

Natsuki snarled as Fredric merely winked at her in the face of her threat, then she was grabbed from behind, and hauled from her perch on his chest. She couldn't help the squeak of surprise that escaped her as she was grabbed. She hung calmly from the grip of the three men that held her well off the ground. She had wanted to end this quickly and with as little violence as possible, but it seemed that wasn't going to happen. As she hung in place, and Frederic spoke, she was taking an assessment of the location of every archer she could see, they would have to be the first ones to go.

She chuckled darkly as Frederic mentioned having dealt with 'her kind' before. "You've never dealt with anything like me before." She replied. Aquila created just enough of a commotion that the attention was briefly taken away from her, and she decided to act. The blue light glowing in her eyes flared brightly, and the blue spellfire that had covered her hands now covered her entire body, from the tips of her ears to the tip of her tail. The heat generated by the flames was intense enough to severely burn al three of the men who were holding her, which prompted them to drop her. An unfortunate side effect of the heat was that her clothing was instantly turned to ash. As her feet hit the ground, she immediately spun, both hands and feet lashing out into the air, a ball of spellfire launching from each appendage, and streaking into an archer.

She paused briefly as the one they had seen approaching finally arrived. She noticed he was a large leopard, and figured that it may be Aquilon's traveling companion. "Heh, soon to be their misfortune" She replied as she returned her attention to what was left of the bandits. She wouldn't be able to maintain the spellfire on her entire body for much longer, but there was too much heat for anyone to approach her while she did, which left her relatively safe to concentrate on the archers. After a moment to spot any that remained, she sent another volley of spellfire streaking through the air.

The smell of burned hair filled the air as Natsuki's flash forced her restrainers to quickly let go. Seeing this, one of the hooded bandits drew his bow, leveling an arrow directly at her, and releasing. The shot never met a mark. Rather, it was engulfed and consumed by a blast of spellfire which the vixen had sent directly at the archer. Within the blink of an eye, the fireball went off in his face, sending him rolling back as white-hot flame spread over his entire body.

At the same time, two more archers took aim at Aquila. The raccoon flinched, dropping his spear and diving for cover underneath the wagon, a split second before two arrows drove through the air, each lodging itself into the vehicle.

Seeing all of this, Henry sighed, and drew all three of his javelins from the quiver on his back. "Fine. We'll do it my way," he muttered. One would have hardly even seen the leopard move... Within a blink, all three of the projectiles had been thrown in sequence, two of them driving into the chests of the archers who had shot toward Aquila, the third finding its home in the head of a swordsman who had managed to slip behind Natsuki.

Frederic's eyes widened, his cocky expression fading into one of fear. Not only had the vixen already killed one of his men and injured three more, but the leopard's first movement had instantly killed three. Meanwhile, under the wagon, Aquila clenched his eyes shut and covered his ears, not wanting to witness the unnecessary brutality that was about to take place.

Natsuki had barely registered Henry's movements, though she heard the javelin pass her. She spared a brief moment to see where it had ended up, and had to admit that not only was she thankful for the leopard watching her back, but she was also impressed with his abilities, but there would be time to concentrate on that later.

She returned her attention to the task at hand, flinging several more balls of spellfire at the remaining archers. with the archers neutralized, or at least the ones she could see, she relinquished the spellfire that enveloped her entire body; it took too much energy to maintain for long periods of time. The spellfire did continue to cover her hands though as she once again surveyed the area around her, looking for the biggest threat.

As she glanced around, she caught sight of Fredric, and his suddenly frightened expression. She allowed herself a malevolent grin as she sent a ball of spellfire streaking into one of his fellow 'guards' standing near him. It wasn't that she relished the violence, but she was of a mindset that if diplomacy failed, and violence was resorted to, there was no point in being nice about it.

A swordsman came up from her side with is weapon raised over his head, swinging down as he got within striking range of the vixen. She launched herself into a roll to the side, spellfire streaking from her hand toward her assailant. She came back to her feet, watching for another possible attacker.

Five archers raised their bows, some focusing on Henry while the others took aim at Natsuki. Five flashes of light met their move before they could even draw. Natsuki's spellfire impacted them all with perfect aim, engulfing the entire group in a noxious cloud of smoke and heat. Two of them fell instantly, the other three dropped everything to turn and run while furiously trying to pat out the flames that spread over their clothes and fur.

Frederic took a step back, drawing his rapier and buckler as the crossbowman next to him became yet another victim of the mage's onslaught. He held the shield between himself and the fox. Sixteen of his men had fallen in the span of a minute, all due to a peasant warrior, a wandering spellslinger, and a merchant with a crossbow. That left him with merely seven men, plus himself.

As Natsuki dispatched the swordsman at her side, Henry stepped forward in a sprint. The remaining six fighters were scattered all about, some of them hesitating, or even stepping back as though they were ready to retreat. So Henry made a mad dash for their leader, making sure to deliver a devastating punch to one of the remaining 'guards' on the way, who fell limply to the ground, the side of his head misshapen. Stopping directly in front of Frederic, the leopard launched a low, sweeping kick, knocking the coyote's legs out from under him. Before he finished falling, Henry grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and held him high overhead, turning to face the last of the bandits.
"EVERYONE HALT!" Henry's voice boomed over the battlefield in an unnaturally loud manner. He stooped down to pick up Frederic's dropped rapier. "If anyone so much as sneezes I carve this bastard apart with his own blade!"

Natsuki watched with an impressed appreciation as Henry sprinted at Frederic, and easily subdued him. She had been preparing to launch another ball of spellfire when the leopard shouted. She snickered to herself as she was tempted to fake a sneeze to see if Henry really would carve the coyote up. She restrained herself and instead stood defiantly, and brazenly where she was, clad in nothing but her fur, looking over what was left of the bandits as if daring them to attack her. She locked eyes with Frederic for a moment, and grinned again.

She didn't extinguish the spellfire covering her hands, but she didn't make any moves either as she watched to see if Frederics fellows decided to call Henry's bluff, or make the smart move, cut their losses, and listen to what the big leopard said. She also took a glance around to see if Aquilon was doing okay, would have been a shame if one of those arrows actually got him. She remained alert and in a ready stance just in case the bandits decided to continue attacking.

Hanging limp within Henry's grasp, Frederic returned Natsuki's cocky look with one of utter embarrassment, mixed with fear. Normally he would have made some manner of lewd comment about her lack of vestment, but the mood suddenly did not strike him so.
"The cat is not bluffing," he said to his men. "He will kill me. Stand down." Henry shifted a bit. "And the vixen, she will kill the rest of you," added the coyote. In response, the few remaining bandits lowered their weapons, one by one... A couple of them dropped their armaments entirely and began to slink away. He glanced down at the leopard who held him aloft. "You have won. Please, let me go, I must tend to the injured and be on my way."

Henry squinted at the coyote. "How about I put the injured out of their misery, burn the corpses, and throw you on the fire?"

"Henry, stop." Aquila dusted himself off as he moved himself out from under the wagon. "You've done enough. Let him go." The raccoons eyes portrayed a level of concern, not just for his feline friend, but for the well being of the men who, only moments before, had tried to rob and murder him. Henry snarled at the raccoon. "Give me one good reason to-" Aquila cut him off. "Don't do this Henry. I'm begging you."

The snow leopard bristled visibly, eyes narrowed as he stared down the raccoon silently. After a tense moment, he looked at the coyote, spat in his face, and threw him roughly onto the ground before breaking his rapier effortlessly over one knee, tossing it aside. "You're not worth getting blood on my fur," he growled, turning about and stomping a few steps away. "If I see your face again, you're a dead man."

Aquila glanced down at Frederic. "Tend to the wounds and be gone," he said quietly. The coyote nodded silently in response, eyes lowered. He pulled himself to his feet and beckoned to what few men remained to help him drag the wounded out of the caravan's sight. Aquila let out a long sigh, and glanced toward Natsuki. "We have some linen in the wagon. Feel free to take some... I'm sure you'd rather not walk around in the nude."

Natsuki nodded in satisfaction at seeing Frederic's earlier confidence wiped away, and replaced with a bit of the fear he had no doubt seen in previous victims. She continued to glare menacingly at the other bandits while they stood down, though she maintained a ready posture just in case one or more of them decided to try something stupid. Thankfully they didn't.

She was only a little taken aback by Henry's proposal for what to do with Frederic and the remaining bandits. She had no love for those who would prey on others to fill their bellies, may as well go back to living with their bestial cousins if they wanted to play that game, and betrayers were even worse in her book. Despite that, she had no desire to take part in the proposed plan of action.

Aquilon apparently felt the same as he quickly interceded on behalf of Frederic and his compatriots. Natsuki watched the exchange between the two with some interest. It seemed for a moment that Aquilon's pleas were falling on deaf ears, but Henry eventually tossed the coyote to the ground. She let out the breath that she hadn't realized she had been holding, and took another deep breath into her lungs. This time the air was released in a sigh of relief that the encounter seemed to be more or less concluded.

The bandits gathered their injured companions and eventually headed off to lick their wounds, and hopefully rethink their life choices. It was only after they were gone that Natsuki finally extinguished the spellfire in her hands. She seemed to deflate as the adrenaline began to wear off, and she realized just how much energy she had used in the fight.

She turned toward Aquilon, and at his mention of her lack of clothing, she realized or perhaps remembered that it had been turned to ash during the fight. "Ah heh heh..." She said as she instinctively tucked her tail between her legs to minimize some of her exposure. "Thank you for the offer..." She replied as she moved to the large pack she had left next to the wagon. "..I have some spare clothing in my pack." She finished as she made it to said pack, opened it, and began rummaging though it. She eventually pulled out some new clothing, and started to move away to get dressed, but with a shrug and a sigh, figured it was a little late for that kind of modesty. She instead settled for quickly pulling the new clothing onto her body.

She eventually turned back to Aquilon and Henry. "Sorry...I don't do that often, and I tend to forget that it destroys anything I'm wearing." She explained tiredly before moving back closer to the pair. "That was an impressive save." She said to the leopard, holding out a hand as she did. "My name is Natsuki, and you must be the Henry I've been hearing about since I met Aquilon here." She continued with a genuine, if tired, smile.

While Natsuki occupied herself getting dressed, Aquila picked up the wine jug and a small loaf of the bread he had left on the tailgate, and walked quietly over to Henry, who had seated himself cross-legged on the ground, staring at the sky. Kneeling next to him and placing a hand on his companion's shoulder, the raccoon let out a sigh. "Let's just make camp, friend. It's been a long day." Henry replied with a stoic nod. "I'll be there in a moment, Aquila," he says, untying a small sack from his belt. "Here are the joiners for the axle."
Aquila took the sack, set the wine jug and the bread on the ground next to Henry, and rose to his feet. "Thank you Henrico. I'll fix it later tonight," he said, walking back to the wagon and picking up his dropped weapons. As he did so, his ears drooped, the realization washing over him that he had hid in cowardice and left his friends to die. Silently, he reloaded his crossbow, placed it in the wagon, and set about gathering some dead branches from the roadside to build a fire, making sure to gather the javelins Henry had thrown, all the while his expression betraying a deep line of thought.

Henry sat stone-still by the roadside for a couple of minutes before picking up the clay jug and taking a sip. As Natsuki approached him, he glanced over his shoulder at her. He returned her smile, though it seemed a bit forced, and nodded, looking her over. "I am Henry, yes," he replied, pausing to take a a nibble from the bread. "You fight with great skill," he commented, tilting his head briskly in the direction of Frederic's retreat. "It is good fortune you were here. If you hadn't been, Aquila would have gotten himself killed, I'm sure. Thank you."

Natsuki gave a smile as Henry complimented her on her fighting abilities. "Thank you. you're quite impressive yourself." She replied. She glanced over at Aquila as Henry mentioned their fortune that she had been there when the bandits decided to make their move. She gave a small frown of concern as she watched the raccoon for a few moment. "No need to thank me." She replied with a small smile as she sat down next to the leopard. "It was good fortune that I was here, but I wasn't about to part with my purse or my goods while I could fight, and they made the mistake of underestimating me." She was always pleased when she was underestimated, it meant she would have an edge in a conflict. "It's a good thing you showed up when you did anyway, I probably would have ended up a little worse for wear if you hadn't." She added before laying back with a sigh. "What I wouldn't do for a mage right about now." She commented to the open air before she asked another question. "Is he going to be ok?" She asked about Aquila. "He seems a little troubled.."

Henry glanced sidelong at the vixen as she sat next to him. He picked up the wine jug, set it between them, and tore the loaf of bread in half, offering one to Natsuki. "What sort of mage exactly?" he asked in reply. Giving a quick look in Aquila's direction, he nodded in response. "He'll be fine. He's just going to spend an hour or so beating himself up over running from a fight, then get drunk and lecture me about getting carried away and needing to learn to hold back. Then he'll black out, sleep it off, and in the morning act like it was all just a bad dream."

The cat took a bite of his bread, chewed it a few times, and washed it down with a sip from the wine jug. "Not a lot of magic users move like you do. Where did you learn to fight?" he asked Natsuki.

Natsuki chuckled when Henry asked what sort of mage she hoped for. "Any kind, well any kind that can cast spells on more than themselves." She clarified. "I could use a recharge."

She raised an eyebrow at Henry's explanation of Aquila's behavior. "Sounds like a well rehearsed scene that's been played out many times before." She commented. "There's no shame in avoiding a fight if you've not the skill for it." She commented with a shrug.

She took a sip from the wine, and a bite of bread before grinning in response to Henry's comments about her fighting techniques. "That's where our enemies made their second mistake. I'm not a normal magic user." She paused to release a wistful sigh. I learned to fight from an old friend of my father, an old ocelot from Yamaha. Dad said he was some sort of warrior monk before he came to Domus with my dad. Never seen such an old cat move so quick as him." She tilted her head a bit and looked at Henry. "What about you? You move pretty quick for such a big guy." She asked

Giving a nod at Natsuki's comment on Aquila's demeanor, Henry took another sip and another bite from his bread, chewing a few times as she answered his question. He gave a bit of a muffled chuckle when she said she isn't the ordinary mage, and another at the mention of a monk from Yamaha. It would seem that both of those comments struck a chord with him.

He swallowed the large bite and began to answer the fox's question. "It starts with training, every day, always getting stronger... At least, that's what I always say... And I do stand by it. But honestly I've been fighting since I was a very small kitten. My father taught me the basics, but he died when I was very young. The Arctic is a rough place, you know... After that, I wandered." His voice trailed for a moment, a nostalgic, somewhat sad expression crossing his face, which he soon shook off.
"In my ninth year, I was taken under the wing of an old hermit. Like your teacher, he had spent his life in a monastery. He was an unforgiving man, but a wise one." Henry paused for a sip, then continued with a glance over his shoulder, as if to make sure the raccoon wasn't listening. "I'm sure a skilled war-mage such as you felt my aura when I attacked back there. No use hiding it now... That's where I learned to use magic. I can not control fire. I can not move the air. But I can become harder than steel and more swift than the wind." He sighed. "That old cheetah had nearly killed me a dozen times before my fifteenth year."

Henry paused to take a drink, his eyes drifting toward the ground. "He died as well. After that, I wandered again. And I fought. I was a mercenary, a gladiator, a bodyguard... I even did some regrettable things to feed myself. The blood still stains my paws." Another bite of bread, and Henry continued. "Then I met that little fellow back there," he said, tilting his nose toward Aquila, who had gathered an armful of wood and set about striking a fire.

Natsuki nodded, and listened attentively as Henry talked about his own teacher and experiences. It seemed like they had a bit in common, at least with where they'd learned fighting techniques. She chuckled when he mentioned his aura, and use of magic. "I wasn't going to bring it up, but yeah. I've met one other that used magic like that. Another monk from Yamaha." She laughed at this. "Seems to be a running theme there. He could have been from the same monastery as your teacher for all I know. He could move just as fast, and hit like a dragon. Said he was on his grandmaster's journey." She shook her head as he mentioned nearly being killed on several occasions. "I had it much different there, while I did take my lumps and bruises, and the training itself was physically demanding. Humiliation, or preventing it was what ended up being my biggest motivator to get things right."

She shrugged when Henry mentioned the blood staining his paws, she wasn't trying to cheapen what the leopard had to say, but she didn't necessarily feel it was something to dwell on. "I don't think there's a fur on Feila that hasn't done something they regretted." She commented. "You try to do better, and that's all anyone can really ask." She smiled as he mentioned meeting Aquila. "Sounds like there's a story there." She commented, hoping the leopard would elaborate.
