Catalina didnt seem startled by the sudden dip into emergency power. In fact she seemed to relish in it. The sudden shadows created by going to emergency lighting made her feel more at ease. Shifting her weight she rushed forward, phasing right through Baxter, and out the door like a ghost. Her paws moving with lighting speed. A few strangled cries were all that most the guards got out before she was past them. her claws easily slicing their armor open and laying them out dead. The others were bound, and gagged, in a swarm was shadows that moved to aid her. "Derigo, get your ass in here now!" The unicorn jumped and ran to her. "Get the ship ready.. We are leaving in the next five minutes." "but...But." he stammered, Her glowing eyes looked right at him. "Now equine..." He didnt hesitate further.

He ran for his ship and opened the door. Running inside and into the cockpit. The engines powered up, the lights came on. Flood lights lit up the docking bay. Catalina stood there, in complete view of everyone. A towering creature, glaring at anyone close to her. In one paw, a ball of fire. the crystaline paw held just a bit away from her body, with a nearly 8ft blade of the same material extending from her wrist. more guards came rushing in, stopping at the sight of something none of them would understand or know what it was. "Stay away from me...I mean it." she said.

One wayward guard fired off a round at her. Her paw was up and catching the bullet an inch from her face. "That.....was.....a .....HUGE Mistake" she said in a dark tone. The guard tried to run, only to have shadows swirl around him and cover him. After a moment they vanished, leaving only empty armor behind. As the other guards backed off into the doors for cover, Catalina melded into the shadows and slid like a specter to the ship. At the door she salidified, and then turned her glowing eyes on Baxter once more. "Be a dear and open the doors....because if I have to open them myself....I'll vent the whole station to space." she growled softly.

Entering the ship, she went right to the cockpit and sat in the weapons seat. There were only four chairs, but everything could be run from the pilot's seat if needed. Powering up her console she reverted to her normal form. Slipping a headset on, she glanced at the equine. he was scared shitless. Taking a moment to bring the weapons on line, she brough up a small forward mounted turret, aiming it at the diplomatic ship. She opened fire on the engine panels, cutting through them in their powered down state. Satisfied she had no worry of being pursued immediately, she brought up communications. "this is Outlaw Star. I repeat this is outlaw Star. You are speaking to Commando Specialist Catalina Tamiko. I am giving the command center a direct order. Kill the seals on the doors and let us out. We are armed with an Isolitic sub-space burst. We will detonate it inside the station if you do not comply. You have 60 seconds."

If Von Drake station had been described as a lunatic asylum, one could only say that it's design was worthy of it's inmates. The modular nature of it's construction meant that any sector could, in theory, be attached to any other, and so be put anywhere. If a comparison to terrestrial cities could be made, it had grown and expanded like Old Nottingham town, blindly, and with strange discontinuities, rather than following the rational plan of the Domusian Capital of Rennes.

Not that such a metaphor would have helped Sakura understand why the Hydroponics module was located in the most logical place for the Engineering department. The low glow of the emergency lighting gave the place an eerie look, as if the plants were waging a silent war upon the metal structure of the station, as they did the stone structures of Feilan ruins.

As Kuril sought to guide his charges through, he was accosted by a wild-eyed tabby who seized him by the jacket. "Ah told 'em! Didn't I tell them? The ghosts, they walk! See them call me crazy now!" And the final touch of absurdity would be apparent to App and Sakura, in that the feline spoke in a Dmitrian accent.

***

Baxter was no fighter, not even an officer, but he could calculate fighting odds as well as any finance sheet. Catalina was mad, and powerful. The sight of dead guards confirmed that much. He still attributed her advantages to gene mods and nanites, but they were not of the sot he could readily combat. Without a word, he touched the pendant around his neck, signaling for the bay to be cleared, and the doors to be opened.

As he retreated with the survivors behind the shield, they all looked to his for an explanation. "Put the station commander on notice; I should like to have a word with him about his... personnel." His lips twisted in a grimace. "Train one of the scopes on the station on that ship when it leaves. I want to give fair warning to whoever will receive it, and put a fleet on reserve to reinforce them." Through all the shambles, a grim satisfaction gave the feline some comfort. He'd been right when he suspected that Von Drake station was hiding secrets.

Sakura slowed as the group headed into the hydroponics module of the station. She sighed heavily, and shook her head as she looked around at all of the plant life surrounding them. "of course, I should have known this place would live up to the stories." she muttered quietly as she backtracked her mental map, trying to figure out where engineering would be.

She wasn't paying too much attention as Kuril moved around to take the lead. She nearly jumped out of her suit, and let out a squeak as a tabby grabbed Kuril, seemingly coming out from nowhere. "what the hell?" she exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment and glancing at App, as she tried to regain her composure. She always tried to be confident, and project what she could of it to help App feel more confident on what was effectively still his first excursion from their home world; though she was afraid she really missed the mark with the way she had reacted. She almost missed the tabby's accent with everything else that was going through her head, but managed to file that tidbit away before she reached out and grabbed the feline. she spun him to face her and put her nose almost right up against his as she asked, "where is the engineering module?"

((ooc: Sorry for disappearing! College was a big adjustment, but I'm hopefully back on a more permanent basis now!))

App was as lost as Sakura was, and didn’t feel he could offer anything to rectify the situation. He was somewhat relieved as Kuril took the lead, but the relief didn’t last as they were quickly approached by a crazed tabby. The effect of hearing a familiar accent in a strange setting was both comforting and not at the same time—this odd station didn’t seem to be the proper place for familiar things.

He noticed Sakura blush, but, truth be told, he was grateful she was as startled as he was—it actually made him feel less like the inexperienced newbie that he was. He waited, hoping the tabby would respond to his friends question in a comprehendible manner.

Derigo backed the ship out of the station. As the craft entered space, the hull came into full view. The black, red and white paint job was designed to make it hard to see line of sight, and shape, angles, and design made it harder to track with electronic means. Radar could barely pick it up, IR tracking would only see the bulb of engine glow, heat only came off the jets. But it left an Ion trail the size of a freighter. "Bring us along side them. I have something to do." she muttered. he nodded and moved the control guides to position the ship beside the massive station. The ship itself was small, and long. It did, however, easily maneuver because of the outboard propulsion on the pylons attached to the rear sides. This allowed the ship to turn on a dime and fly in reverse with the same maneuverability.

Turning, he ship brought itself along side the large station. Catalina brought the port side weapons to bare. Then her voice whispered in Baxter's mind alone. no one else could hear. "Little kitty. At this range I can't read your thoughts. But I can speak to you. I do not want to hurt you or your friends. The guards I killed, I killed in reaction. I want you to understand, I am a creature of instinct and desire. I am a succubus. Do me a favor. Go to my quarters. Look under my bed. You will find an old lock box. The kind that requires a key and a combination to open. The key is inside the left pillow. The combination is 34, 57, 02. Inside that box is everything you will need to understand what and who I am, as well as why I do this. If I die, then it falls to you to finish what I am starting today. The images you saw of the amulets like my own. You have to recover them. Once you do, put them in a container, and fire them off into the star of Feila. They hold power. Power similar to nuclear weapons. Image that power in the wrong paws. And please....don't charge Derigo here with anything....he's my delivery boy and yes, he smuggles illegal goods. He brought me a shipment today, and inside that shipment is a bottle of some rather.....potent alcohol. Feel free to confiscate it. But at this moment, he is acting under the threat of death. The Dmitrians were bringing me a shipment of similar things. They didn't know what it was. Just not to break it. The customers of my bar here have long forgotten most of what went on....but there is one left here that does know what happened in the war. His name is Barth. He's the Janitor for the living area. Go have a word with him."

Taking aim, she pelted the side of the station with harmless fire. It was too weak to penetrate the shell of the station, but it got the point across. Then the ship pulled away, before slipping into a high rate of speed.

Derigo was headed home. He had managed to salvage a massive cruiser from the war. It didnt have any weapons left, but the power core still worked, and it was able to generate a magnetic shield to fend off small asteroids. He set it up in a small asteroid cluster between the sun and Feila. He knew it was over five hours away, but with his ship at 90% speed, he knew he could increase a little more and cut that time if needed. He glanced at cat. She was rummaging around in a side bin where he kept extra clothing and some emergency supplies. Finally she got out of her seat. free floating in the zero gravity as she put on clothing. Her old suit gone now, she was in need of new attire. Assuming her cubi form again, she pulled on the tank top, and a pair of Daisy Duke shorts. Though they were not her normal wear, they were available. As she settled back into her seat and began strapping herself in, she heard Derigo swallow as he tried to figure out what to say.

After a moment he spoke. "So....how long do we have?" "Depends....are you equipped to fight the Feilian fleet?" The horse shook his head. "I can easily break their fighters apart. The small freighters are easy enough to push through and the Medium class Cruisers are not too hard to deal with. But anything bigger can break through the mag shields and penetrate the hull. You and dad did a good job of putting this ship together. Star's been able to hold up against everything, but she needs a tune up." The feline nodded. "As long as you have the stuff to give her a full work up, I can do it. Just need a quiet place to hide. They are watching us. They will know where we head. After we get what we need we have to blow up your home. Im sorry but the explosion will cover our tracks. We can then shoot toward Feila and land in a rather....quiet place. I know where we can go that they can't get too with those big ships." "Where?"

The feline didnt speak further. Just ran over the list of available weapons. The ship was fully loaded, but some of the larger weapons were old, and may need servicing before they work. then she spoke aloud, "I wonder if Zechariah is still kicking. not heard from that dragon since the last time I stopped in the UN for some paperwork."

The box under her bed contained files, dates, names, lists of the jobs she was ordered to pull during the war. It also contained the last tattered pages of a book long forgotten to time, a small dagger that once belonged to her mother, a lock of Vaughan's hair, a set of earrings from her daughter, and several hologram disks. Each was a details record of her battle logs throughout her assignments. at the bottom of the box was a very thick notebook, filled with the writings of her life. It detailed her childhood, youth, into her adulthood, and then the things that happened from the time she took over the forge with her first mate.

"Sir, the ship seems to have some stealth measures. It's hard to keep track of it."
"Keep on the ion track, you schlep! I shouldn't have to babysit you, I have my own duties!" Kruger sighed irritably. All technical matters were delegated to him, mostly because Baxter couldn't remember the names of most of his specialists. Of course, the lion could always delegate tasks himself, but his subordinates didn't seem to trust themselves!

He sighed. As if this bloody package wasn't giving him trouble enough. 4DIDAR scrambling wasn't new tech, but in miniature? How the bloody hell was he suppose to know what was in here without opening it? Baxter was busy, he couldn't call up the Auditor for permission for a while...

*Well, maybe just a quick peek.* Kruger paused at the unfamiliar thought. He was conscientious most of the time, such a thought wouldn't have occurred to him under normal circumstances. Perhaps it was Catalina's hormones affecting his inhibitions. In any case, he kept enough residual caution to don a hazmat suit before opening the package...

~***~

It took a few minutes for the alarms to stop blaring in Baxter's ears, and a full half-hour for the lights to return to normal. That gave him plenty of time to think about Catalina's message. He'd already dispensed a subordinate to fetch the box she referred to, and now sat reflecting, seeing if her explanation fit the facts.

Could it all have been just a coincidence, and no Immortal meddlings were occurring here? No, those amulets were too tempting a target. Nukes were hardly new tech, but so compact an energy source was undoubtedly a great innovation from the devil's workshop. Enough to tip the balance of power?

He couldn't say at this point. *I need facts, damnit. I would like to have a talk with this... Barth.*

The box arrived. Baxter acknowledged the salute before opening it. The customs office desk was torn up, but he hardly cared at this point. The documents were absorbing enough, and he scanned them with all the discipline of an Auditor. The mementos he sent up to his ship, to scan for DNA and other identifiers.

The journal he left for another day. He called up Kruger. "Any luck on the tracking?"

"Um, yeah, they're heading out towards the Belt. Gilgamesh's sector. I've let him know. Erm, what did she say was in the Dmitrian's package?"
"Alcohol, I believe?"
"Hm, not jewelry then?"
"WHAT!?" The vidscreen was unmistakable, there was the open package, with the pendants sitting in the middle. One was missing, though...
The screen showed Kruger. He was wearing the one that was missing. "Why are you wearing that?"
"Hm, oh!" The lion started, yanking off the pendant. "I... don't know sir..."

The white cat's orders were clipped and precise. "Close and seal the room, and get yourself to the Mental influence detox chamber. Detach from the station, but stick around. Someone has been lying to us... or has been lied to."

~***~

The Dmitrian feline had calmed down a bit by now, having directed Sakura to the engineering bay. It was clear that the staff were not the best or brightest, but really, the whole business was not a fair test. Or so they said. It was not a sight to inspire confidence.
The cat had stuck by Apollo while Kuril had followed the dragoness. In the light, one could see that the cat had wings as well, bedraggled, feathery ones. "No one at home believed me. All of them say it's scientifically impossible. Hah! If it exists, it exists, and it is therefore in the realm of science! But, they sent me here, saying the superstitious Feilans might believe it, but not the rational Dmitrians, oh no! Well, I know why Feilans believe in magic. Because it's real, thats why! We've seen proof today, and ghosts haunt this place. I seen 'em!"

He'd gone on like this for a full half-hour without introducing himself. It was clear that he'd bottled it up for some time for lack of anyone to talk to, and now that a fellow-countryman was in his domain, he'd buttonholed the poor kid, and was letting him have it.

Sakura moved with an air of determination that would have kept the majority of furs out of her path. This was one of the occasions that she used her size to her advantage, as she kept the path in front of them clear until they reached the engineering bay. Once in the engineering bay itself, Sakura drowned out the ramblings of the Dmitrian feline that had shown them the way, and marveled at the fact that the station was even still running. She bulled her way in with the other engineers, and started first by looking at all of the readouts, and diagnostics coming up on several different displays. There was a laundry list of small things that were wrong that had just compounded to create their current situation. While she wanted to just start pulling things open, and working she reined herself in, and managed to find whoever was in charge of the engineering crew and offer her services. She helped the engineers, often making repairs faster than anyone would have expected, and a lot of times in tighter spaces than anyone would have expected her to fit. She kept her use of certain abilities in those situations to herself. It wasn't too long before she and the engineering crew had the major issues worked out and the station was at least in a semblance of working order again. She eventually had the chance to address the station's chief engineer. "It would seem that I will be here for a while at least, I would like to offer my services during that time if you can make use of them."

After things were somewhat calmed down, she took the opportunity to get back to Kuril and App. "Seems you've made yourself a new friend." she teased App before looking at Kuril. "Any word from the boss on what happened?" She asked with some curiosity.

App was growing more and more uncomfortable with the rambling feline through the walk, but he couldn’t help thinking about what he said. *Magic…? Could it really be? Surely not…* yet for some reason, he wasn’t so sure.

Those thoughts were shelved as he began to see Sakura in action, in her element and his mouth hung gaping open. He wanted to offer to help, but it looked like she didn’t need him, and besides, the tabby had a hold of him and wouldn’t let him go.

Feeling extremely out of his element, he looked at the scientist, asking hesitantly, “Why did you start thinking about Magic in the first place? That idea had to come from somewhere, and like you said, Dmitrians don’t believe…” A dangerous question to some, but App figured the answer would determine once and for all if this cat was mad, or simply eccentric and momentarily shaken.

Catalina was busy thinking. Reaching out to eh corners of the world she had once called home. Searching for a single being among billions. It was like looking for a sewing needle in a pile of dirty syringes. Mind numbing to a point, but infuriating far more. She sighed and let it go for a bit. "Hun do me a favor, swing portside for a bit. Make them think we changed course." he nodded, half expecting her to snap at him for taking too long.

But she did something else. she unhooked her harness, and drifted to the door. "I'm going to sleep until we arrive. My head's hurting and I need to recharge ya know?" he nodded, watching her go. Once she was gone he looked at the controls. He could easily turn around and be back at the station before she knew it. Unfortunately, he owed her. He wouldn't be alive if she hadn't decided he and his old man were worth the effort to save.

Plus she knew the ship as well if not better than he did. And she had combat experience. She was a pilot, a fighter, a gunner, a warrior and probably some other things he didn't know. Setting the ship to a parabolic arch, he hoped to pass around a planet before changing course again. If they timed it right, they could pass behind Feila's moon and change course, buying them some time. He knew it wasn't possible to out manuver them forever, but he could hope. The equine reached up, toying with his horn, trying to imagine what he was capable of. As long as he had fuel rods in his reactor, it was going to be easy to keep flying. If he had too, he could head for the deep end of space and make a break for an uninhabited world. From there he could plot a course to where ever he might find safe haven for them.

Catalina found a bed in one of the living quarters. It was dusty, from lack of use. The room was bare. Sighing, she lay on the bed as best she could in Zero gravity, and tried to catch some rest.

The chief engineer, the same mouse that had been on the group that Diego had assisted in the first mess over the filters, wiped his brow with the back of his hand. What a day! As if this conglomeration of an installations didn't give enough excitement in the daily routine of maintenance...
At least the outsiders weren't interfering. Quite the opposite in fact. Feilan and Dmitrian issues aside, engineers were in a kind of family all over the system, and no politics would get in the way of necessary work. He bowed, disregarding his rumpled tunic. "I thank you, Miss Sakura, for your offer. If you talk to the personnel officer, we might see about putting you on a kind of temporary payroll. You do good work, I don't like to think about exploiting it."

Outside, Kuril had asked the cat his name. "Oh, Barth." The winged feline said, as if it weren't important. Apollo was his audience, and he wasn't about to be deterred from his pet subject.
"Don't you believe it! Sure, most wouldn't credit that there's more to be dreamt of than what's in their philosophy, but you can't get rid of that idea. Magic's in the blood, you see, rather to say, the nucleus." He held up his thumb and forefinger, pinching in a way to indicate smallness. "We've got the most complete gene bank in the universe, I'd say, but there's a bunch that we're not sure what it's for, cause it only activates when it's bundled with another gene, see? And some of those combinations do very strange things, indeed, especially when you mix species."

He pointed at the plants, winking. "Them's not all from the plant kingdom, you know. They don't bother me, here; I can play with my little ones as I like. Still, there's some thing I don't like to mess with. Used to work at a gene-mod place, and sometimes... we got stories. All hushed up, of course, didn't want lawsuits. But when I decided that I had to go public, well, they shipped me off here. Too embarrassing, you see."
And with that none-too-lucid account, he sat back, breathing in deep of the fresh oxygen.

~

After sending a guard of his after Barth, and making an appointment with the personnel officer of Von Drake Station, Baxter sat down to think for a few minutes.

What did he know for certain? That this station was a lunatic asylum, was obvious enough. But was there Immortal influence. *If Catalina is right about those pendants, than I can't imagine they'd pass up the temptation.* It all made sense, in a way. The pendants would be delivered by a secret package, peacefully and at least with the appearance of legality, to the edge of Feilan space, where an Immortal agent could pick them up and deliver them outward.

*We've disrupted the delivery, anyhow. My ship has not been infiltrated, so they should be safe enough on board.* That still left the question of who was the Immortal Agent. Was it Catalina? She'd certainly been wrong when she alleged that the package contained nothing but alcohol, but was she a bold liar, or a goat?
*So what would have had to happen if I hadn't come?* The pendants would be delivered into Catalina's hands. It was difficult to imagine how anyfur proposed to take them out again. No, if Catalina wasn't the agent, then the plan would fall through, unless-

The white cat sat up straight suddenly, almost dislodging his spectacles. "Unless I was expected..." Yes, then his inspection would have triggered Catalina, disrupting the 'delivery' and leaving the package loose, and Catalina would be sent away from what she was trying to protect. This was a souring possibility; Baxter had an extreme dislike of being used. Still...
He called his ship, putting the captain on high alert for any intruders or hijackers. He was not to submit to any orders but Baxter's own. Satisfied that he'd taken the proper precautions for now, he awaited his next interview...

~

Somewhere, on a Class V Dreadnought in the Belt...

"Sir, they appear to be changing course."

"Apparently, but I can't imagine where they would go. New Hoshiruki is not in that direction, and the belt's the only other refuge such would have... or would, if they hadn't brought themselves to my attention." *Sigh.* "A real pity, you know, that her family had to come to that. Consequence of not caring, really, of not thinking everyone else important as they. Well, let us drift their way. They are not the only ones with stealth in this sector..."

Sakura grinned, and gave the mouse a hardy slap on the back before she could even stop herself and think about what she was doing, caught up as she was in the moment of success in getting the station back in some sort of working order. "That would be great." she replied, then stopped and her eyes widened as her brain caught up with what she had just done. She knew that Feilans could be touchy about physical contact, and just hoped she hadn't offended the mouse, especially when he was basically offering her a paycheck for while she was on the station in addition to what Baxter had promised her, and she wasn't one to turn down a paycheck. She composed herself, and cleared her throat. "well, um...I guess if you can point me in that direction, and possibly med bay as well. My partner wanted to see about a possible apprenticeship of sorts during our stay." She said with a half smile as she put her hands behind her back to hopefully avoid any more possible screw ups....

App had to concentrate to get the feline’s story. Well, not ‘story’, exactly, more a collection of personal convictions. What he did understand—that unusual happenings, especially in connection with genetic modification, had started the cat’s personal crusade—did make sense, in a way. A few days before, they might not have, but then he remembered Sakura’s little demonstration just before things went wonky at the station…*He may just have a point. He still is probably out of his mind, but still, he may just have a point…*

But then the hybrid had to face the question: *So what if he is right? What does it matter? What does it change? It just means there’s a little more out there, might explain what’s going on at the station, but, really, in the grand scheme of things: does the existence of magic affect everyday life? Why risk so much to champion the existence of it? Unless, the labs did things with or to the results with magical powers or potential…*

Catalina was asleep, letting her mind float. For hours she drifted from the four corners of the universe that she knew. She could move between the dimentions, and take the ship with her. the problem is the time it would take to recover. And letting the amulets out of her grasp like that would do way more damage.

Four hours later she sat bolt upright. Phasing through the walls as she got back to the cockpit. Landing in the weapon's station chair she lit the control panel up, slapping a headset back on. "WAKE UP!" the horse jumped out of his coat, in a mad scramble to find the source of that scream. And when he saw catalina rotating her chair toward something he couldn't see yet he got terrified. She brought the starboard weapons to bare, training them on empty space. "Fire the Ion core up. We need to get going. NOW!" She hissed at him.

As she was training the weapons, he hammered his hooved fingers over the controls. Grabbing the command controls, he began to manually pilot the ship. He turned the ship directly at his home, hoping to get some distance between them and whatever the hell she was upset about. It was then the sensors began to pick up the ionic trail left behind by engines in space. He looked at the readings. Something HUGE was headed in their general direction. Cat was twitchy right now, and he was getting to the point he was ready to eject himself.

She closed her eyes a moment. Reaching out and trying to determine what this was. Lifeforms, a lot of them. Big mass, mostly metal. It had stealth, of some kind. She prayed it wasn't shielded against psychic energy as she tried to find the captain of the vessel. Hoping she could get in his head, and make him turn around. As she was searching, she felt a tug in another direction. Familiar, but at the same time strange. Something different. Turning her head she tried to zero in on it. It was hard to track, but she could feel the direction it was pulling toward. Feila. A person reaching out to her. She wanted to go, but had other things to deal with.

"Ion engines fully charged and ready. I can begin evasive maneuvers." She held up a paw as she opened her eyes. "No. turn toward our friends there. I think its a big ship. Probably a lot of guns mounted on it. I want you to fly, and give me full control of the grappler arms and weapons array. Just fly." he nodded, hesitating a moment before flipping the switches. Then he turned the ship toward the incoming vessel. The arms took a moment to gear up, before sliding forward and locking into a position to harvest debris. Catalina brought up her own screen and set her chair in a free float mode. Now that she had almost 360 free range to rotate, She turned her chair to face forward at the ship. The data began to scroll over her screen, as the weapons were listing their stats and ammo count. She had plenty of smaller fire. Some larger rockets, and two Sub-space bursts. Aside from that they had one spare weapon. A left over from the war. untested and probably in need of maintenance.

Looking over the stats for the weapon she nodded. Just enough juice in it's power pack to fire it once. Would take 30 seconds to get it up and running, then 1 minute to charge it. So if they had too, they could fire it. no telling just how powerful it would be against a newer ship. it was made almost 3 years before the war ended. And never got tested because of lack of funding. She had smuggled it out, and installed it into the Outlaw Star. SHe did some calculations based on the older models of ships. It could penetrate the hull on a single hit, provided the mag-shields were down. Even with shields up, she could deplete their shields and still poke a relatively small hole in the hull, small being the size of a small car. But how deep would it go? Where to aim it? Of course the bridge would cripple the entire ship, but how many would die then? Engineering would be better, unless she hit the power core directly. The exhaust was a good idea, assuming it was not venting flammable gasses. Even if it was the vacuum of space would kill a fire.

She set the thoughts aside and began to look toward the vessel. It was coming into line of sight now. Her heart sank. A dreadnought. biggest thing she had ever faced and best she had ever done on her own was cripple the life support for a couple hours. This time she could use her magic. But if these were only mortals....that put things in a class where she couldn't use her powers. It would be like a rabid wolf against a fish in a barrel. No contest. Her ethics would never let her be comfortable doing that. Finally she tapped out an open channel and spoke. "Identify yourself. Comply or be fired on." To her, it was all war. The deaths would weigh on her mind, but in reality, were just collateral damage. Her idea of pace and sanity would be out of her grasp forever if she killed them.

Reaching over, she flipped a switch and armed a pair of sidewinders. Taking aim she got a good lock on the engines. The missiles would overshoot and swing around, provided they were not shot down first. She didn't know if the ship was on alert or not.
With power comes responsibility. With responsibility comes duty. With duty comes honor. With honor comes shame......

There is no purpose in denying that you know nothing in the grand scheme of things. In an effort to prove otherwise, you would simply go mad.

Gilgamesh could see the maneuvers of the Outlaw Star from the bridge of his own ship, and he sighed as he saw it. Of course, he wasn't recognized on sight, but having Catalina be potentially hostile at this point left him with few options, most of them unpleasant. When she opened the communication channel, he responded.
"This is Gilgamesh Wulfenbach, sector head of the Belt. I'm not here to pick a fight, but to have a word. The choice, however, is yours, miss Tamiko. I do hope you will be wise and choose the latter." His voice was urbane and cosmopolitan, and when his face appeared on the vidplate, it was not at all angry. There was even something boyish in the features, lupine with the touch of the mustelid. In so far as any nationality could be placed, the brighter colors of his waistcoat and jacket put it either in Gawain or Domus.

No further introduction was needed. For Derigo, Gilgamesh Wulfenbach was the closest thing to the Wrath of God to walk about on two legs. It was almost purely by his policies that the belt was kept from pirates, though as long as no spacer brought themselves to his attention, he let them alone. But if you Made Him Come Over There...
For Catalina, his name would conjure back centuries, memories of his father, back in the days of Vaughan, and later in the Edwinian Liberation war. Both had been left without family by the conflict, and Gil had never quite gotten over a residual guilt, as his father had been responsible for most of the Tamiko family's deaths.

Barth peered at Apollo as the young one did not reply. The cat had the Dmitrian relative disregard for personal space, which the half-feilan might find uncomfortable. "Ah, thinking are you? Wondering if it matters, or what it means? There's many who don't want you to know, believe me. We class all kinds of things with magic, and say they're not part of the physical universe, and therefore impossible. But, once admit that the Physical universe is not the whole universe, and nothing is impossible. Fear, my boy, you don't know fear until the roots of existence fail like that. A prophet is not tolerated in his home country."

And with that irrelevancy, he stood to leave, leaving Kuril staring after him and shaking his head. "Touched with madness. But then, he is on Von Drake station."

The mouse jumped at the sudden touch, but forced himself to relax. Formality could be inconsistent on such a far outpost, especially when Dmitrian exiles could be found amongst the Feilans. The engineering head tried not to be one extreme or the other, neither lax nor rigid.
"The med bay is further on, near the dorms for station personnel. I suppose we could arrange for him to observe and assist, though it won't be any kind of formal certification; we're not authorized for that." He looked away, mumbling, "Not that it's ever stopped us before..."

Sakura chuckled at the mouse's last statement as she caught it. "thank you very much, a chance for him to observe and assist would be great." She said with a smile, her hands still held safely behind her back. "unfortunately I'm not so great in the medical department...unless you're a machine..and all my partner has had to learn from so far has been holo-manuals. She shrugged, "you eventually get to a point where some hands on experience is needed. Thank you for the directions, and any help you can provide to get App in for some hands on training. I'll be back." She said before turning and heading out to find Kuril and Apollo so they could hopefully finally find their way to the med bay, then find the personnel office.

"I got directions to the med bay" She said as she approached App and Kuril. She looked around for a moment, and didn't see the winged feline. "I guess the botanist decided to take off?"
