Re: Demon's Home (Domus)

Even under the least congenial circumstances, it was always good for Vaughan to hear his wife purr like that. Something, somewhere, was going right, even if everything else was going wrong. "It's probably a good thing that the vampire's aren't aristocrats, given that Zeph's coming along." He said, a...

Re: Bells in the void part 2 (closed.)

What did one say to a grieving child? And how could one say it, when one is so preoccupied with one's own? Gilgamesh had not the luxury of most new fathers of a few uninterrupted minutes with his child, to allow them both the chance to imprint upon each other. Gil wondered if Peter was aware of such...

Re: Bells in the void part 2 (closed.)

Gil didn't answer Peter. Not because he was too ashamed to face the simple-minded little punk, no. This wasn't the first time the embittered Tamiko had put shots across the bow in regards to his father's legacy. Nor especially because he was angry; he'd dealt with the provocation and had thus sated ...

Re: The Price of Knowledge

The notion of discontent with the Party actually existing in Edwin, for longer than 10 minutes, anyhow, was apparently a concept more alien than offensive to Dat. "How?" He was more puzzled than hurt; even loyalists knew that Big Brother was always watching. Any widespread discontent existing implie...

Re: The Price of Knowledge

It was clear from the dragon's expression that he did not expect the hug. In fact, from the sudden awkwardness of his body language, Kolin guessed that he had not been hugged by anybody for the past 1,000 years. "Uh...." After an initial stiffening, he gently patted Freya's shoulder, waiting for her...

Re: Demon's Home (Domus)

Vaughan sighed, remembering earlier days, before he and Conrad had any sort of real connections to the powerful beings hidden behind mortal gaze. They were too unimportant to have to ask for permission to step foot and poke their nose in. "I do hope he realizes that it isn't as if we're not going to...

Re: Bells in the void part 2 (closed.)

The wise commander never passes up an opportunity to act without his adversary looking. Gil knew Peter well enough to know that his theatricality would cause him to pay attention solely to his spiel to Delia for at least a minute. And in this era of conflict and command, an uninterrupted minute is a...

Re: Coronation in Maze

As Lucas launched into his rather... impassioned reply to Miles' words, that ferret's paw rose to his muzzle. Outwardly a gesture of sudden thought, it was in reality to hide a smile. *Not exactly the reaction I was expecting, but desireable all the same.* He could see the shift in perception happen...

Re: The Price of Knowledge

While Zechariah had no natural offspring, there were many young magicians and creatures of magic that he'd taken under his wing over the years. He had not been able to preserve all of them against the Purge. The somber mood that descended over the dragons as they remembered dampened even Dat's fidge...

Re: Bells in the void part 2 (closed.)

The intense and palpable lack of amusement Gilgamesh showed towards Delia's antics would have made Queen Victoria look like Sir John Falstaff by comparison. It could not, with accuracy, be simply labeled as anger; the Admiral's face and voice were devoid of mere rage. But the calm of a military man ...

Re: The Price of Knowledge

As Dat and Kolin got into the car with Freya, they noted the contrast between the two, even in their similarities. Zed was, if anything, in equal humor with the dragonness; the years had mellowed whatever conflicts that had sprung up with them into a kind of amity reserved between two soldiers who'd...

Re: bells in the void 2

Posted! I wasn't sure if just having a never-tested weapon working exactly as planned would be exactly fair; having initiated combat, I'm still trying to feel out the balance of power. Still, I had the idea of turning a dimensional-warp engine inside out, and wanted to write it up.

Re: Bells in the void part 2 (closed.)

The Belter Fleet was equipped with every type of sensing apparatus known to science, at least to Feilan science. The effective range of its senses had to be calculated in n -dimensional space, but it was by no means infinite. There was, of course, the 5DIDAR relays, which could process data not only...
