Re: Up for Debate: Legality of Butterfly Knives

I'm not sure where 'here' is, I'll assume you are in the state of New York. I found this in Article 265, Section 265.01 Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when... 2) He possesses any dagger, dangerous knife...

Re: Up for Debate: Legality of Butterfly Knives

This is taken from Schedule 1 of the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998, taken from the Australasian Legal Information Institute, with some help from the NSW Police website. This act is law in my state, New South Wales. The butterfly knife is a prohibited weapon as described; Clause 1(6) A butterfly knife...

New Global Moderators

Forthwith, henceforth the heretofore most lauded and exemplary members of our electrotelegraphic communion, Rackenhammer (Pretender to the Spanish Throne, Roleplayer of the Gawainian Throne, resident debater) and Kitsunegami (Alleged diety, allegedly taking over the world, allegedly succeeding) are ...

Re: Broken ties, New friends (private)

"No, don't..." Randall winced as the otter collapsed again. He cused himself inwardly for making Yanaz rush. Typical Randall, could not stay in one place for more than a minute. The squirrel's tail brushed outwards and he frowned in concentration. They were only one short walk down the roa...

Re: Broken ties, New friends (private)

"Hey there," Randall smiled weakly in relief. If someone was in such a bad state as to need CPR, chances of survival were not too optimistic. Yet the otter was conscious and speaking. He was going to be all right! He even had the strength to reach up and touch the squirrel's cheek. Randall...

Re: Broken ties, New friends (private)

Randall's heart was thumping against his chest. Sweat poured down his red-furred face as the squirrel jogged around the corner. He had been on his evening run whenever work and university and life had not caught up to him. He had feared at first that his life in tertiary study might swamp him down, ...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

By all means, make a wish and have fun with it. Ouch. I was thinking about bowing out of this discussion anyway since no amount of arguing ever changed anyone's mind, but that sealed it. Forget the point I was going to make...some nonsense about religion and science not having to be mutual enemies,...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

Just as it's not right to keep us from practicing our religion(s). By all means, make a wish and have fun with it. Unfortunately, religion has quite a big play in politics in many countries, some of which are not particularly open to modern enlightenment. Even the United States has a lot of religio...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

In response to your comment on Athiesm having evidence that your religion is false, it is more a case that evidence is lacking for it to be true. It's not really scientific to have a hypothesis of "We must find this false", a more sensible approach is "Is this true or false?" For...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

Well, I don't really feel I have any more points to make at this time, otherwise we're just going to derail the thread with the entertainment industry. :P I'll keep reading and see if I can offer any thoughts or perspectives on anything else that comes up. Like I said, I've not had any 'terrible' ex...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

Larcen, I'm afraid it might be difficult for me to give a coherent opinion on that link, because I only made it precisely 1 minute and 45 seconds into the show. It's really stupid, incomprehensible and the jokes are not funny. And it's kind of gross. Seems like rubbish to me. I suggest not paying it...

Re: Darker sides to religion? Oo

Well, I guess I should have developed my point a bit more, but time ran out. I'll try and answer you as best I can now. I'm sure you know from your cartoon work that visual media like animation, film and theatre are not (usually) venues for hate speech. Though we may laugh at some bawdy comedy, the ...
