I'm Draro. Been working up the courage to actually try my hand at rp and finally found a site that's not adult. I guess I'll just put my character down then?
Appearance: Rather short, just about 4'10" and very slim, too slim even. White fur, bright blue eyes. Always seems to be smiling. His clothing is simply a leather jerkin, leather boots, and leather trousers, with a dagger hanging on either hip. He has lost about 3 inches off of his tail.
Biography: Wilbras grew up on the streets, as such he has done whatever he could to survive, whether that be stealing, begging, or, more recently, putting on knife juggling shows. Growing up he befriended one of the local bards, and would always listen in rapt attention to whatever stories or music the old fox would grace him with that day. Xedot (silent t), as the fox was called, hailed from a small town in Domus and always seemed to have new tales for young Wilbras. Xedot quickly became a sort of secondary father figure for Wilbras, who never knew his parents. Wilbras was raised and taught the arts of stealth, thievery, and daggers from a gruff older rat named Emilio. When Wilbras was 15, Emilio died in a failed robbery attempt, their mark being much more capable with a sword than either of them ever imagined, and from that day forward, Wilbras stayed as close to Xedot as he possibly could. Tales of adventure quickly became Wilbras' favorite, therefore he has wanted to join up with a group of sell-swords for years. Unfortunately, there are not many who believe that an untrained young mouse could survive such a life, and as such he has found himself rejected again and again. He always looks on the bright side of things, however, and just keeps telling himself that obviously those groups didn't deserve him. After all anyone would take a mouse who knows a spell to wrap himself in shadows to hide, or escape, from others. Obviously those groups would see him as a tool and not a member of the group.
Physical abilities: Quick and nimble from his time on the streets and deadly with his daggers, whether he is throwing them or slashing someone to ribbons. He is also able to use his tail to wield a dagger if he absolutely has to (he even has a hidden dagger in the back of each boot in case he ever needs to grab one with his tail and can't give up one in his paws), though he isn't nearly as proficient using his tail as he is his paws it is usually still enough as most are unsure how to deal with three blades at once. Able to sneak about with little to no sound. Is quite capable at lock picking and always has a set of lock picks on him.
Magical abilities: Wilbras can turn himself invisible using Dark magic. However, he is untrained in magic and as such it requires an immense amount of concentration for him to begin and maintain the spell. Currently, he can barely walk while using it. It is also difficult for him to maintain the spell for extended periods of time, his current record being 57 seconds. Hiding in the shadows does make the spell easier to perform, however.
Likes and dislike: He loves music, particularly music from countries other than Maze. He also loves stories, anything from outside Salamanca particularly. He quickly calls a friend anyone who can play him exotic music or tell him a tale of adventure and wonder. One of the few things that can actually make him lose his smile is the suggestion of theft, interestingly enough. He sees theft as he imagines others see hunting, a necessary evil that must be done in order to survive. He does not, however, enjoy it, despite how capable he is at it. While he dislikes the wealthy and the upper crust, his eternal optimism has tempered it, he usually tells himself that he doesn't know how they were raised, they could actually be good people at heart. One of the other things that is almost guaranteed to make his ears droop and his smile disappear is someone poking holes in his optimism, his optimism is what has kept him (in his mind) sane his whole life and if someone takes away his optimistic view, he becomes very unsure of everything, especially himself. Usually in such an situation, he will remove himself from whatever was going on and just go hide somewhere for however long it takes for his optimism to come back, though he can be persuaded to stay. Bribes of new stories and music will generally convince him to stay and do whatever was being done, though he will be uncharacteristically quiet and reserved throughout the whole thing.
Goals: All Wilbras really wants right now is to adventure and to find people that he could call "friends." He has no long term plans for the future beyond surviving.
Fears and beliefs: He has no true "Fear" with a capital F, his optimism has taken care of that, telling him that any obstacle is surmountable. He does not believe in the Holy Triad of Mazan, though if any asked him he would say that he hopes he would be going to Cielo or that Quetzalcoatl would bring him home safely. After his life on the streets, he can't be brought to believe in the Triad as others do, but he hopes for their protection.
Is there anything else I need to do with this?
Thanks and happy hunting.
You're fine. You don't even have to post a character sheet. But if you want some direction, the Role-playing Discussion sub-forum attached to the Shady Tavern is a good place to start. You can throw out an idea for a role-play or you can look for something to join. Or if you'd rather just jump in without discussion first, then you can find an active role-play that is open. Unless a role-play says that it is "closed" or "private", you can join any of them.
Family: Father: Shaw, presumed deceased, whereabouts unknown Mother: Aela, living in Sheringham, Edwin currently.
Appearance: Xedot is a tall fox, standing at just over six feet tall. His fur is not what one would consider normal for a fox as it is a bright silver in color, with his eyes bright red in color. He tends to wear tunics with a deep red color and plain white trousers. He wears a simple chain shirt beneath his tunic. He carries a longsword on his hip and is almost never seen without at least a lute or lyre nearby. He carries himself tall, with an air of confidence about him.
Biography: Xedot was born the son of a wandering minstrel, as such he calls no one area his home. He spent the better part of his childhood roaming the country of Edwin with his family, learning to play the lute, lyre, flute, and drums from his father and the art of swordplay from his mother. Both of his parents contributed to his understanding of Fire magic. For a time, things were relatively peaceful, outside of bandits on the roads and such things, but when he was fourteen his father left one day and never returned. For months his mother refused to tell him why, insisting that his father would return, someday, and that if he did not she would tell Xedot what happened on his eighteenth birthday.
His father never returned.
True to her word, Xedot’s mother explained that his father had left in search of an ancient and powerful artifact. It was a sword known as Khaakestar. There are many legends surrounding the sword and many of them contradict each other. One thing remains constant throughout all of the tales, Khaakestar is a longsword, ashen gray towards the center and turning the color of bright embers on the blade. The exact abilities of the sword vary from one legend to another. Some say it is simply a sword comprised of innumerable fire runes, augmenting the wielder’s Fire magic to unprecedented levels. Some say it grants the wielder the ability to incite rage or panic while others claim it can bring forth calmness and serenity. Some even say that it allows the wielder to use Fire magic to heal.
As it happens, Xedot’s family has been searching for this sword for generations. Somewhere along the line, they became traveling minstrels in order to find leads that may be hidden in local legends. From that day forward, Xedot has carried on his family’s search. Xedot personally believes that the sword is simply a large number of runes in one place, making the sword a force, neither evil nor good. In fact, he has found himself able to cast some of the spells the legends speak of without the sword in his possession. Recently he has spent a few years in and around the capital of Maze. He couldn’t bring himself to just leave Wilbras, a young street urchin mouse who attached himself to Xedot when he first found himself in Salamanca, poor thing was desperate for someone in his life, but he can’t put off leaving any longer. He’s found himself a lead, one that takes him all the way to the Arctic Islands.
Physical abilities: Xedot is capable with the longsword and not much else. He can use daggers in a pinch but much prefers his trusty longsword.
Magical abilities: Xedot is a master of Fire magic. Outside of the normal fire spells, Xedot has learned through stories, heresy, and experimentation how to perform the following spells: He can induce calmness, entering into a meditative like state if he uses the spell on himself, or inflame the passions of nearby furs. His emotional spells can only be subtle when he is helping someone reach their emotional peak faster. If a fur is calm and he tries to rile them up, they will notice that something is wrong, usually resulting in them resisting his influence. He has also discovered how to use Fire magic as a substitute fuel for the body, meaning that he can allow himself to run longer than he could normally or other such things. This spell is specifically related to endurance, however, he can’t make a fur run faster or hit harder than they could before, he simply allows them to continue for longer. He can even use a real fire as this fuel, but doing so would quickly put out said fire.
Likes and dislikes: Enjoys a good game of chess every now and then as well as a friendly sparring match. He loves theater and opera, making a point of seeing a play whenever he can. Dislikes anyone with unkempt fur “or other such nonsense” in his own words. Even when on the road, he excuses no one and if he is traveling with others, he will wake up early simply to make sure his own fur is presentable before anyone can see him. When traveling alone he will not set off until his fur is presentable, he even camps away from roads to reduce the likelihood anyone will see him before he is ready.
Quirks or odd habits: See Dislikes
Goals: He doesn’t truly believe that he will ever actually find Khaakestar himself, but he will never stop looking regardless. He also hopes to one day find someone who will carry on his search once he is gone, whether that be a son of his own or someone else entirely, is irrelevant. (Though he would prefer a son)
Beliefs: Xedot has never stayed in one place long enough to really become familiar with their religion. He believes that there is in fact a higher power of some sort, but does not know who, or what, it is.
I didn't originally intend to make Xedot a full character, he was going to simply be a name in Wilbras' life, maybe someone Wilbras could turn to for information or help or whatever. But one thing lead to another and eventually this happened. I guess more options is a good thing though.
