Do you want to make a game?

Post by Styx » Tue Jul 07, 2015 2:33 pm

For any would-be video game makers out there, Humble Bundle is currently having a Game Making bundle for a variety of engines, including Game Guru, AGFPRO v3.0, Stencyl, and 90% off older versions of RPG Maker.

https://www.humblebundle.com

If you don't know, Humble Bundle from time to time offers bundles of video games or game-related software at pay-what-you-want prices. You can pay $0 and get it for free, or pay more than the average person to get more (like RPG Maker VX Ace Deluxe). Some bundles also offer even more content at some specified price on the page. Then, you can specify how the money is split between groups like the developers, a charity, the site itself, etc. It's a good opportunity to dabble with game making at a very low cost.

Wow, they have all three old RPG Maker games for only 90% off. That's really cheap.

Never heard of RPG Maker VX Ace Deluxe before. Why doesn't the RPG Maker site have it there?

RPG Maker has VX Ace on their site: https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/products/pr ... ker-vx-ace

As for the "deluxe" part, the Humble Bundle description says it's VX Ace with "Luna Engine; a series of scripts created for people with little to no programming knowledge."

Thanks for posting this. This bundle is just fantastic. Even if you don't end up using much of it, its hard to beat the sheer value and breadth of content the bundle has to offer! I look forward to tinkering with the stuff once I have some free time.

Hm, the price point always put me off dropping the cash to invest in something like this, along with my notorious inability to finish projects. Still... maybe if I came up with something small... hm...

Apparently, RPGMaker is coming out with a new version called MV. Finally, they decided to make something with side view battles. I can't stand front view battles unless it's the Earthbound (Mother) series.

I recently ran across the new GGMaker. It's similar to IGMaker, but has more features. RPGMakerWeb says you can make the following games: "RPGs, shoot-‘em-ups, racing games, fighting games, simulation games, platformers, tower defense, card games, and even 3D games."

Then there's this new Character Hub program? Not sure what it does beyond recolouring sprites.
