Quite The Predicament (Drive By Shooting Age)

Some one-thousand years into the future, Feila is now ruled by pop-crazy teenagers, computer nerds, and gun-wielding gangsters. This period is most like our present day Earth, specifically the 2000's, with the Internet, MP3 players, and towering skyscrapers. All natives are furry (Skin Avian are present here too). No native humans.

Dima shrugged when Baek protested. "Wasn't going to try to force you....doesn't make a difference at this point anyway since we're not going to the airport." She replied. To Milo she replied. "That's all well and good, but from what I've seen so far, I'll feel better with some more backup that I can trust than just you." She leaned back, and put the majority of her effort into controlling her breathing for the rest of the ride to the hospital. Once they arrived, she climbed out of the car, and took a quick look around, hoping there weren't any surprises waiting for them. It took her a few moments to stand up fully and even then it made her ribs hurt. She got herself under control fairly quickly though, and headed for the entrance.

"That wasn't exactly how I meant it..." Baek replied innocently when he was offered a new jacket. "I mean, I have... more of this same jacket..." Shrugging it off as Dima stepped out of the car, he'd leave the torn material on his seat and stepped out with her. The large red cross over the hospital's entrance seemed bigger tonight than any other, looking to him almost as if it was a beacon of safety. His arm was still in pain from being smacked on whatever it was. He grasped his bare arm tightly, keeping it against his side as he turned around. "Thanks... Milo." He smiled before turning to enter the hospital after Dima.

Milo didn't say a word before pulling a small handgun out of the glove compartment, chambering a round before stowing it on his person. There was something he wasn't telling the two, an ulterior motive, answers that he kept a secret from the others. Whatever his play was, he had an obvious connection to Kate, likely something personal given that the two were the same species, after all. He stopped at the door and turned, looking down the streets and then to the two, letting a deep sigh, "I'm sorry... I'm probably being more confusing to you two than you deserve." he admitted meekly.

Dima turned around, and looked at Milo as he spoke. "As well you should be." She replied in disapproving tones. "You may be law enforcement...may...but we are definitely victims in this case. Though I refuse to remain one." She continued. "Perhaps if you give us the whole story, we can all help eachother out huh?" She continued as they entered the hospital.

Baek was listening to what was being said, but he hadn't anything to input yet as Dima was already talking for him. Instead, he'd look round the place and wave at the first nurse he passed. "Hey, uh... Can we get some help... please? Kinda dying a little, heh..." He joked, just trying to numb the strangely more potent pain in his arm. Maybe it was just because he had gotten moving again that it started to hurt more? Didn't matter, he just wanted an examination of the damn thing.

A cockatoo approached him quickly as he addressed her and looked at the wolf and the others. "All three of you? Alright,. Lucky we're not too busy tonight." She sighed and gestured for the others to come over to her. She saw the blood first on Milo and spoke to him suddenly. "That's a lot of blood. You need that patched up, come with me." He offered her wing for him to follow her into a side room, inside would be a desk, a chair and a small table, its shape clearly designed mostly according to anthropometrics. "Mark, Amanda... Can you see to these two please?" She called.

Two more nurses, one being a tiger and the other a ferret approached Dima and Baek. "Alright, so what's the matter. What happened?" The ferret, presumably Mark, asked quickly with obvious haste in his tone.

Milo shook his head, "No.. no, I need the room number for a Kaitlyn Follet! The girl who was just brought here under police escort!" he brandished his badge, demanding an answer from the nurse, "Please, it's a matter of life and death." he was probably freaking out the nurses quite a bit with his aggressive display. "She kinda looks like me, I'm sure it was a big to-do, now please, lead away!" he commanded. Turning his attention to Dima, he quickly rushed through a comment, "After a short spurt of consideration, I think the obvious involvement of the police department doesn't give us many options for individuals to trust. How quickly do you think you can arrange three people to exit the country discretely?" he said, glancing toward Baek, "Unless... you want to join us. When in that case, we'd need to make a trip down to the police station... something I'm not exactly thrilled to do at this very second." he said with a grim undertone in his voice, but he knew the kid's attachment to his weapons, he wasn't going anywhere without them any longer.

"If you can get me to the airfield, I can get us in the air inside half an hour." Dima replied as Milo left. Dima turned to Mark with a bit of a frown. "It involved a hasty, and slightly unexpected stop in a car, and I think the bruising or cracking of probably several ribs." She replied calmly though the pain did creep into her voice despite her best efforts. "I really don't have much time to be hanging around though...got an early flight to catch" She smiled.

Mark didn't really know what to do and looked to his workmate. "Well... I'm sorry but we can't really let you leave here with rib injuries like that... Sorry..." He looked across to Baek. "What about you? Injured arm?" It didn't take a genius. No sleeve and a tight grip on his upper arm was a giveaway a newborn could get. "Lemme see..." He offered his webbed hand out to take Baek's arm.

As the wolf reluctantly offered his arm, the other nurse moved round to talk with Dima. "Mark's right, sadly. If your workplace follows rules, they'll understand why you don't turn up. We can make a phone call..." She turned to Milo finally and sighed. "If you're really that desperate, you can come with me... But you gotta promise me you'll let us help you. Legal matters." She'd begin moving down the hallway, expecting him to follow.

Milo waved his hand dismissively, "Yeah, sure, just take me to her. Also, I need her room absolutely incognito, I'll give you my FBI badge to copy, but myself and my superiors should be the only ones allowed to see her. Not even the police, she's out of their jurisdiction." he affirmed, trying to make certain that no one would be able to find her. He nodded toward Dima, "Alright, I'll work on getting things set up." he handed her his phone again, "Make any calls you need to... when we move, we'll need to move quickly." his gaze pierced her eyes for a moment before turning to follow the nurse down the corridor.

Dima took Milo's phone and put it in her pocket. She figured that Eva would try to call when she got on ground with her team. She would make a call ahead to the airfield when she had a moment with fewer prying ears around. In the mean time, she turned her attention back to Mark, and chuckled. She instantly regretted the chuckle, but hadn't been able to help it's release. She grimaced a bit before she spoke again. "There's not really much to be done for cracked ribs, it's not like you can put me in a cast." She grinned. "You could give me some painkillers, and tell me to rest and not do any strenuous physical activities for a few weeks. I'll take the painkillers, and probably ignore the advice." She let Mark turn his attention to Baek, glad to have some of the scrutiny off her for at least a few moments. "If you'll excuse me, nature calls..." She said as she headed off down a hallway toward a sign pointing the way to the restrooms.

The nurse opened the double doors leading into one of the smaller wards and slipped inside, holding the door for Milo. "Here she is." She answered, pointing to the only used bed in the ward. "I can wait outside if you would like some privacy with her."

Mark wasn't about to argue with Dima over the possibilities of a hairline fracture or other injury - She was stubborn and he didn't have the patience. "Alright, fine. Just don't say I didn't warn you if it is more than just that." He said to Dima as she walked away, not taking his eyes off the arm he was inspecting. "Okay... I'm gonna press a few parts of your arm and you gotta tell me what hurts, alright?" He told Baek softly, beginning to press his thumbs into Baek's upper arm, where he had previously been clutching. Baek recoiled a bit, feeling the fourth press hit something sensitive. "There? Right there?" The nurse asked, pointing with his index. He didn't wait for Baek to answer. "Well, lemme see what's up with it. Come with me, would you?" Mark lead Baek into the closest nurse's office and closed the door behind them.
