Blast from the Past. (Edwin) [closed/ended]

Post by LittleWing »

It's a funny thing, reincarnation. Almost completely made up by chance; only with the exception of if you were good or bad, of course. If you're good you get to be something awesome, like an eagle, or a rich guy. If you were bad, you pretty much get to be a crappy plant. Or a rock.
Though, strangely enough, for some creatures it isnt so black and white.
Sibuna was a prime example of that.
He somehow managed to come back as himself An anciet pharoh-esque figure brought back to life. Only catch; it just so happened to be some 5000 years later.
This would describe why, exactly, this tall, dark-furred jackal was rumaging through a dumpster in the rain.
If you were to ask him how he got there, he would tell you a grand, elaborate tale of a great undertaking, while, in all honesty he had no idea. He had to keep up his oh-so-royal facade, yes? Or so he thought.
To the unknowing eye, he would just look like a very large (7 feet, at least), black jackal dog digging for scraps. Upon closer observation, one would see that his fur wasn't black as much as it was actually a very dark navy blue, and that he wasn't wearing norma, clothing, but was wrapped in bandaging around his hips, feet, and hands.
He shook out his short coat, sending a spray of water around him. His paws fumbled over bits of old news paper, cardboard boxes, old food, but nothing he would adorn his shivering body with.
As much as he didnt know where he was, he did know that he needed some form of clothing to wear. Not only for protection against the elements, but also to blend in somewhat among the other folk here.
He also knew that today was clearly not his day.

Illiana glanced into the alley at her right as she passed and noticed the shivering jackel. She paused and considered his lean form and the bandages on his feet, hips, and hands. She noded to herself as if answering some private question and then started down the alley towards him. "Do you need help?" she queried when she reaced his side. She glanced up at him and her maroon eyes noted that he was shivering in the rain. "On second thought, don't answer that. It's obvious that you do." She quickly pulled off her own jacket and held it out to him. "You can have this for now if you'de like. Although..." at this she steped back and eyed him more critically, "We probably aught to go get you some decent clothing." She held out her hand in offering and commented, "My name is Illiana by the way. What's yours?"

(my goodness! I didnt even notice that someone replied here! Im sorry!)

The jackal quickly spun around, looking toward the voice. He recoiled a bit, slightly ashamed of his half-nakedness, especialy in front of a lady.
"I..." he started, grabbing a piece of newspaper and holding it limply to his side...
"Thankyou...." his teeth chattered ever so softly.
Cautiously he reached out for the jacket, feeling kind of bad to be taking it from her.
Knowing full well that it would not fit him, he draped it over his shoulders instead, as to not rip or stretch it.
"Thankyou," he repeated.
English was not his first language, so the words came out kind of roughly, with a thick desert accent.
"Illiana," he said, looking to her, "Sibuna."

Illiana nodded politely and grinned at his obvious akwordness.
"It's good to meet you Sibuna." She took his hand in her own and led him towards her appartment just a few blocks away. She had clothes that she knew would fit him until she could go out and buy him something new. As they walked the people on the street stared. It was an unusual sight. A half-dressed, seve foot tall jackel and the petite young fox beside him certainly made an odd couple. When they reached her apartment she tugged him gently inside and tossed him a blanket.
"I have a few pairs of clothing in here from one of my old friends. They should fit you, although... they might be a tad tight." She dissapeared into one of her bedrooms and then reappeared with a set of loose black scrub pants and a black t-shirt.
"See if those fit. If not I can find something else." She turned and headed to the kitchen.
"Would you like somenthing to eat Sibuna?"

Her little hand seemed to get folded away in his large paw. The fraying bandages around it unravled slightly.
"Clothing..." he said to no one in particular. The language was foreign to him, he tried to piece it all together as she spoke.
The stores and people around him were fascinating. He hoenstly wasn't sure how he got where he was. There was very little that he remembered.
He remembered darkness, then a sudden opening. Blinking against the light....stumbling forward.
The language was familiar, as if he had heard it for a long time.
But he didn't understand.
He remembered a marble building, a large one, and stumbling through the glass doors in the hours of the night, walking down the sidewalk in this new world.
Automobiles, sky scrapers.
So different than what he remembered.
He remembered sand and stone. Carriages pulled by hooved beasts and pyramids instead of office buildings.
His eyes blinked against the rain as he tried to take everything in.
Almost reluctantly he stumble in the door, fascinated by the way it swung open then closed again.
Even more astounding was the set of clothing that Illiana had handed to him.
The two article hung limply from his paws as he studied them. As the girl made her way to the kitchen, he attempted to put them on. It took a few minutes, but he was mostly successful.
By the time he was done the shirt was backwards and the pants were inside out, but other than that he had it down pretty well.
In reply to her question about food, he simply cocked his head to the side.
There were some things he would still have to learn.

Illiana came around the corner with a bowl of fruit in hand and set in on the table. Glancing up she noticed the look of mild confusion on Sibuna's face. She pondered for a moment as she looked him over. She noted, once again, the bandages on his paws and realized why he was so confused. She quickly thought back to the language classes she had taken in college and switched to speaking Egyptian. It had been a few years since she had taken her Egyptian language class but it came back to her quickly. "Can you understand me better now, Sibuna?"

His eyes blinked over to the bowl of fruit. At last, something familiar. Slowly he reached toward the nearest piece, taking it and bringing it baclk to his person. An orange.
Carefully he peeled the outside of it off, as if it were the most important and delicate task in the world. Somehow he had managed to remove the peel in one large piece.
Quickly, his head snapped up as she spoke Egyptian.
"Yes, thank you," he replied in his native tongue, "where did you learn the language of the desert? And why does no one speak it?"

A well dressed, and surprisingly short ocelot walked slowly and purposefully down a long grayscale corridor. He had the entire floor painted a dull grey, with grayscale portraiture on the walls. He didn't want any visitors, and any that chanced upon him, he didn't want to stay too long. Reaching the end of the dully decorated hall, he turned back towards it, and flicking a switch watched as the fluorescent lighting tubes all flashed off one by one towards him.

Vincent Asimof stood in darkness, and sighed. He turned back around, and walked to the elevator. Inside the dully steel coated room, he pressed the button for the ground floor, and leant back against the rails. He took his black, metal tipped cane in both paws and waited in silence for the long journey to the ground floor.

The doors opened with the sound of scraping metal. He was once again reminded to call the engineer to fix it before some poor fur got trapped inside. He nodded slightly to the receptionist at the desk, and shook paws with the door guard on his way out. Walking down the front steps to the building, he pressed a few notes into the paw of a homeless fur sat at the bottom, and smiled at him before walking on.

Vincent turned left, and began walking towards the residential apartments of the town. No matter how rich he was, he always preferred to look less so. He lived in a cheap apartment, wore cheap clothes, and shopped in local supermarkets. Outside of his work, he was unrecognisable, and most people tended to ignore his very existence, and somehow, he enjoyed it.

Reaching his block, he walked to his apartment, and upon entering, immediately got changed from his grey suit into some jeans, a bright T-shirt depicting the logo of a band he'd never liked, and a black hoodie. In his new clothing, he simply lounged on an old, worn sofa, pressed play on the stereo remote, and closed his deep black eyes.

In a shoddy, skidmark-ridden back-alley clearing, about 40 feet wide and 38 feet long, a dirty-white otter, dressed in a black jacket adorned with black decorative straps along the sleeves and gray jeans, slightly-faded sneakers, and jet-black fingerless driver's gloves wheeled in a sleek black sport bike with one subtle gold stripe running from nose to taillight, curving in an 'S'-like formation just before the seat. Small lettering along a section of the stripe, also in gold, read "DUCATI SE 1000". A jet-black helmet dangled from one handlebar, its visor mostly opaque and tinted with a slight amber-gold color.

Tuneup slipped the helmet off its perch, sliding it on and buckling it securely onto his head. He gripped the handlebars, acrobatically leaping up onto the seat. A turn of the modded 'key', and the bike's engine roared to life, revving boisterously as he pulled on the throttle. "Haha-ha, alright!" he cheered, giving the machine a quick visual inspection. He released the clutch and revved the bike again, the rear wheel screeching against the cold ground and sending up billowing clouds of white smoke. Tuneup leaned the bike slightly to the left, and it was sent skidding in a tight, controlled circle.

He grunted abruptly, and shifted the bike's weight to the nose. His arms faintly glowed a silvery gray, and the superbike's tail end lifted upwards, sending it pivoting rapidly on its front wheel. At the same moment, Tuneup himself agily leaned back, planting both paws firmly on the modified tail end, then extending one arm and flaring both legs, balancing on one paw in a flashy show of lithe focus and agility. His helmet hid his overly excited facial expression extremely well.

Illiana grined at Sibuna's ease of speach and allowed the familiar language to slip off her tounge.
"I learned the language of the desert in a place of learning." she stated fluidly. She also simplified what she said into terms that she knew would be easier to comprehend.
"As for why no one speaks it.... It has been a long time since this language has been spoken Sibuna, and you are a long ways from your homeland. Here we speak a different language." She felt quite a bit of pity for the jackel before her but, after noticing the way he caried himself, decided that it would be best that he did not know. Illiana schooled her features into a calm mask and then decided to ask a few questions of her own.
"Sibuna... What the last year was that you remember? I dont mean to be rude but I think I have an idea of what may have happened to you." She seated herself on one of her chairs and motioned for him to take a seat on her sofa.

When Illiana explained, the jackal's ears fell. Great. He was in the middle of no-where, on some alien planet where people wear silly clothes and have giant metal machines. Sure he was going to be taken as a slave and murdered. But, if she had been to the desert, that means that maybe he could get back there too.
Regardless, he would not let them take him alive! He was a god! They would be no match for him!
At these thoughts, he stood a little bit taller, more confidently. He placed a paw on top of her head.
"I will not lest these creatures harm you," he said, gesturing to the various electronics; the phone, the television.
"Clearly we have both been abducted. Youve just been here so long you don't remember.... they;ve brain washed you."
He looked at her, confused, his hand still on her head.
"This year. The Year of the Old Kingdom, of course."
This translated roughly to 2400 BC, so, almost 4500 years ago. No wonder he thought he was on an alien planet.
"The other Great Ones have taken me in my slumber! But I have escaped and now I am lost on their plane! That is all. I will find a way to return! And I shall also save you before you are devoured!"

Suddenly, Sibuna's ears twitched, he heard the deep thudding bass of a stereo, where it came from, he wasn't sure. The fur along his back ridged up, and a low growl escaped his throat. Obviously he wasn;t used to these strange noises and technologie.
He looked at the fox, a little bit anxious, as if wondering why she wasn't more upset about this creature that was clearly in the apartment making these horrible noises.

As if that sound weren't bad enough, the sudden screeching of the bike outside sent the old Jackal into a near frenzy. He growled and barked loudly, his fur bristled. A deep glow emitted fromhis eyes, casting them an oily black color, instead of their normal gold. The bandages around his hands and wrists began to unravel on their own and stand like stalking snakes. He was ready to utterly destory the next thing that moved with the pulsing energy that encircled his hands.

A loose upward spiral of white smoke corkscrewed around Tuneup and his bike as they spun in a tight pivot, the bike balancing on its front wheel, and its rider balancing by a paw on the modified tail end, legs and tail flared and whirling in circles in the air. Abruptly, he placed his other paw on the superbike, thrusting both arms backward and making it perform a stationary flip, landing on its rear wheel. Tuneup recovered swiftly and balanced on the front wheel for a few rotations, before swinging downward into a whirling kick, forcing the bike back to two wheels and landing him perfectly on the seat, if leaned slightly to the left. Tuneup planted one foot to the ground and adjusted his helmet and gloves, laughing gleefully to himself as he did. "Hot damn, I swear, those tricks never stop being so fun!" he exclaimed.

He sighed inwardly, regaining control of himself, and planted both paws on the handle bars. That's enough for warm-up, he thought. With a turn of the throttle, the otter lifted his foot to the bike's side, the rear tire screeching and kicking up another cloud of smoke before the machine shot down the alleyway. Tuneup leaned into a drift as he raced out onto the street, darting off down the street that partially encircled the apartments. Apartment district to the docks, he planned mentally. He leaned down, ducking his head behind the small windshield, ensuring better aerodynamics.

The heavy bass beat of Another One Bites The Dust filled the apartment, and jarred through the floor to those below. Vincent lay, feeling comforted by the feeling of the music running through the old sofa. After this song ended, he opened his eyes and lay there for a few more songs before getting up.

He walked into the small kitchen, feeling the bass heavy songs of Queen through his bare footpaws as he did so. Reaching the kitchen, he surveyed the contents of his cupboards. He picked up a few cans and some packages but everything felt too artificial. There were certain things that Vincent still wasn't used to, even after seeing the world change over the centuries. Eventually he simply toasted some bread and returned to his sofa, switching the television on.

It was an old black and white film. Vincent smiled to himself, and sunk back into the sofa. It was one he'd seen when it first came out, and although it was still modern in terms of his lifetime, it was comforting to see that not everything just disappeared over time. The heavy bass flooding through the floor was only added to by the sounds of gunfire and shouting coming through his television's surround sound speakers. While Vincent often annoyed his neighbours, very few complaints ever materialised due to his ability to pay them off without hurting his bank balance.

Illiana laughed when Sibuna began talking about protecting her and brainwashing.
"Sibuna.... I don't exactly know how to tell you this but you aren't on another planet and I haven't been brainwashed. Somehow you have reincarnated. It has been almost 4500 years since you last walked the Earth. It is no longer the Year of the Old Kingdom. Things have changed quite a bit since you were last here."
She pulled his paw off the top of her head and stroked it gently. She glanced up at him after a while and gladly noted that the glow in his eyes had faded.
"Good. Now lets go see if we can get my neighbor to stop blaring his music and T.V."
Illiana pulled Sibuna after her and they walked down the hall to Vincent's appartment where Illiana knocked politely and steped back to wait.

(srry guys, didnt realize it was my turn!)

All of these new sounds; the screeching of tired, the thumping of the music, drove him crazy. Clearly there were horrible demons assunder. They were coming for him, to test and abduct. Take him to the alien colonies.
And It was obvious that they have already brainwashed the young girl.
He barked ferociously, his fur still ridged.
THe smell of burning rubber irritated his nose.

"It is no longer the old kingdom because thats not what they call it on this planet!"
The poor creature was obviously very confused.
"I must get back to Kahun...."

T.V?
He blinked several times.

"Tee....vee...."

He didn;t like the sound of that.

As they walked down the hallway, he began growling again. It was obvious he didn't approve.
They seemed to be going to the alien queen headquarters.
He looked in shock as she knocked on the door. A secret passcode, perhaps?
Would this lead them to the tombs of the ancient alien kings?
He was prepared for the worst, as the sound grew from the other side of the door. The thumping sound must be great beasts moving about. Or perhaps churning water...embalming fluid? The feet of a thousand slaves....
He would fight them all to the death.
