Berchtesgaden

The warm wind was circling in the breeze over the small fishing town. It flew through the air almost like a haunting ghost, flitting this way and that through until it brushed a solid object. The streets were almost empty at this time of night, except for a collection of people who still had buisness to attend to, or some furs that were homeless. The moon was out, but hidden behind the large gray clouds covering the night sky. As usual of a fishing community, the area smelled strongly of salt water and the scaly fish that roamed the rivers around Gawain.

This section of town was almost the same as the rest of town except different homes and buisnesses were out. Henry's Fish Palace was one of the signs that held over a pale stone building. Other signs like Lenny's Jewerly and Patson's Bakery had strange drawings, the first having the picture of a pig head wearing jewelry and the latter having the picture of a mouse wearing the common baker's hat. The signs were making creaking noises as the warm wind brushed by them. It ruffled the cloak of a lone figure, walking down the cobblestone road silently, completely unable to be seen underneathe the black, hooded robe it wore.

The figure was walking slowly, head down, no sign of life inside. There was something strange about the lone walker, and it could make anybody on edge. The figure's scent was unrecognizable, and it's face was yet to be revealed. All that could be known was that it was there, and it was making it's way towards some destination in Gawain that nobody knew of. How did it get into this city without identification? How did it slip past so many guards without being noticed? These questions were not to be revealed. But the figure would still walk through the night....

All the creature smelled was fish and more fish. Wrinkling it's unseen nose in disgust, it made a small hissing sound. Watery towns like this was not a friend of the figure. How it longed to be in Kahun or Yamaha, where the festivities and heat were plentiful, but Gawain? The worst place to teleport by it's standards. The temperature was okay, but the presence of the water was not in the figure's habitat description. It could not argue though, that there were any choices it had now. The felians had been chasing it in it's original habitat, wanting it's hide for their trophies.

Such barbarians.....I'm sick of them. The creature thought under the robe. The pace quickened only slightly as it thought. Why is there no place they cannot go to? Everywhere it seems, these monsters are there, and the felians claim ME as the monster instead! They want a real monster? Look at the felians who want my hide....

The creature had reached an alley and looked into it. There seemed to be nothing there. Maybe it was a good place to relax? Or maybe an ambush waiting to happen? The creature hissed a little, but didn't move. It sensed something now and it would stand still until the threat was clear. A watery place with curious felians.....not what this figure had in mind. But it waited for the sign of life to appear. It'd deal with it somehow.

Zack walked out of the alley, dark blue robe covering his head. He looked a bit down -- of course, he has all the reason to be down. There were absolutely no leads here either; no one knew of what happened after the exhibition took place somewhere in central Gawain. He banged a fist against the wall. The trail had gone cold, and there was no one he could turn to right now. Would he go back to Azalus? He frowned. Perhaps there might be someone in town who knew...

He exited the alley and walked past the stranger. He briefly glanced at it, curious, before continuing to walk. In the dead of the night, there was this strangely eerie fur. He couldn't tell what species it was, not from scent -- probably one of the rarer furs that walked Felia. He shrugged, and continued to walk.

The figure was passed by and he quickly caught the scent of a cat. He narrowed his eyes from under the hood and turned towards the cat. The figure was actually lost, so he wondered if the exit was that way. Thinking about it, he decided to follow the feline to see if that was where he needed to be.

His steps were slow, as he didn't want the cat to think of him as a stalker. Walking, he seemed to hover along the ground almost, as the legs could not be seen. If there were any legs in the first place. Still following, a green glow seemed to start from inside the hood as he looked up slightly. These were his eyes. However, one eye seemed to have a pentagram symbol on the inside. Steps starting to quicken, he would follow this cat until he knew where he was headed. The figure said nothing of course, no sense in drawing suspicion from the cat.

This is the only chance I have..... He thought as he moved.

Zack took long strides as he was deep in thought. There was not a clue, not a hint - all he'd have to do is find a reliable source somewhere. Who, he had no clue. Mercenaries, perhaps? They travel, they must know of the movements of one man who had just held an extravagant relic exhibition -- especially one that his family had discovered. Of course, it was just a ploy - and just like rats to a mouse trap with cheese as a bait, his family was all gone - to where, he had no clue. All part of Batym's grand scheme of hate.

He stopped by an inn -- he paid no mind to its name. He just entered. It was quiet and empty, the barkeep obviously about to retire, but a quick flick of money, and the cat soon held in his hands the key to another room. He decided to sit and read for a moment -- he took out from the pocket of his robe, a small book, red leather covering it, written in old yellowed paper in ancient ink. At his side was a nice warm glass of goat's milk - the perfect accomplice to lull one to sleep. Between turning pages as he perused the book's knowledgeable contents, he took a nice sip of milk, coating his lips in white.

Meanwhile, the figure stopped at the inn after the cat went in. Looking at it, he narrowed his eyes. An inn? Well, it was night. There was no way the guards would allow him out anyway. And he didn't have enough power to teleport out of here yet. The thought of sleep sounded good to the figure, and he walked in. Going up to the person he looked in his pockets and summoned quickly a bag of money. Taking a coin out of the summoned money he handed it to the felian and was about to sit when he was asked of identity.

Aw dang..... He thought. Turning he slipped off the hood. A dragon like head, with strange ears and a long horns was shown. The felian gasped a little, and he sighed. Thank god this was a disguise and not his true face. If it had been his true visage, his identity would be blown wide open. Taking a seat, he tried to relax, his eyes staring at the cat, wondering what he was reading.

Being the perceptive sort, Zack could figure out right away the odd fur's intentions. "It's a book. About runic magic." he said, flipping a page. He raised his head to look at the dragon-like creature, eyeing it intently. His eyes slit, reading the horned reptilian. "I've never seen your kind around," he finally said, his eyes glinting with curiosity. He stared at his horns. "Where do you come from?"

If one were to look up, they might catch a glace of a hooded figure, with almost glowing green eyes. He always thought to himself, those eyes would be the death of him. And they just might.

You would blink, and then it's gone, like something just in the corner of your eye. Look once and it's gone forever. However, no one in particular decided to chance a look at the sky, which the brooding raccoon had been hoping for. He had just recently taken another target's life, all of course for the jingle of money around his belt. He was simply watching, looking at all the furs and guessing who they might be.

But soon, his ears perked. He felt this...presence, emanating from a nearby alley. He looked over to see another hooded figure, not totally unlike himself, and a feline, leaving the alley. Soon, the figure turned and followed, almost gliding across the ground, totally soundless. He followed the two with his eyes, and watched them walk into an inn. 'This ought to be interesting...'

He climbed down into the alley, sticking his claws into the rough walls but inherently being as quiet as possible. He walked into the inn and took a seat, watching the two furs with great interest.
